A LOT of knitting this week! In an effort to whitle down my yarn stash, I've been pulling out this & that in the way of yarn and just making things. This has been a super way to use up the lone balls/skeins. Sometime I purchase a ball/skein without anything specific in mind for it, just because I like the color or texture of the yarn. But since there's only one ball/skein they're really suited to small, quick & satisfying projects. The book, One Skein: 30 Quick Projects to Knit and Crochet by Leigh Radford (Interweave Press, 2006) was a wonderful source for inspiration for me, though I've not yet actually reproduced any of the projects from that book. While I enjoy reading craft books, magazines, etc., I ususally don't make anything exactly as shown in such resources. I thrill to the inspiration, but I prefer to make up my own patterns & projects, or take a featured project but put my own twist on on it. Basically, I just love to make stuff!
The black lacy scarf I showed last week is now finished! It was meant for sale here, but I showed it to a dear family friend and she bought it from me straight away as a gift for someone. But I will be making another one, or similar, soon. Some knitted items, including those shown today, will be for sale shortly along with some other goodies too! The fingerless mitts were such to knit and play around with the odd skeins of novelty yarn in my stash. The Blue Popcorn Scarf in progress is on the needles now--the unevenly spun yarn creates bobbles as one knits. Knitting & winter just seem to go together. So this week has been all about cozying up to yarn!
Happy Days! :o)
