This photo is totally unrelated to today's news and such, but I couldn't resist sharing. This morning tons of cedar waxwings descended on the yard and rested in the fruit trees. I'm sure they were disappointed not to find any remaining fruit! We often see these beautiful creatures in the fall, when they usually descend and devour any fruit on the trees, eating and making a mess of the pears and apples. There were just so many waxwings crowded on the trees...quite a sight! Dear Husband took this photo.
Today is the promised awards ceremony I mentioned the other day! The end of last week Tara of Days Missed on a Hammock and Joanne of Today We Are... both gave me the You Make My Day Award. Thank you so much, Tara and Joanne--so very sweet of you! And then Rosie of Rosie's Whimsy tagged me for the Archive Meme that's going around. Thanks for including me in this one, Rosie! It was fun to trawl through my post over the year and half since I began and choose a few for this meme. But first let me share how it works...
Here are the instructions:
Link 1 must be about family. Link 2 must be about friends. Link 3 must be about yourself, who you are… what you’re all about. Link 4 must be about something you love. Link 5 can be anything you choose.
I think this is a great way to circulate some of the great older posts everyone has written, return to a few great places in our memories and also learn a little something about ourselves and each other that we may not know.
Post your five links and then tag five other people. At least TWO of the people you tag must be newer acquaintances so that you get to know each other better….and don’t forget to read the archive posts and leave comments!
1. Well, I'm going against the "rules" a bit here already with this one...LOL! I don't post photos of my family. I speak of them, but I don't share a lot of very personal information about them or individual family members. This is for their own privacy. And we don't have children to share photos of. But as many of you friends who have been along with me here for a while, our cat, Charlie, is our baby. So I share again this photo of Charlie taken this past Christmas. Here is the post it comes from, Merry Mix, if you'd like to read it again.
2. As with my family, I don't share photos of my friends here, for their privacy. The photo of this doll quilt came about because of blog friendships making a difference, and so I share this link, Hearts Delight. I made this small quilt for a cancer benefit auction last summer, August 2007, for a woman named Krystal Glass. From this link you can read more about the auction. (For those of you who remember the auction and all the working leading up to it, unfortunately I have no news of what has happened to Krystal Glass. Evelyn, who initiated the idea for the auction, does not keep in touch, and she's not updated her own blog since September of 2007, so I have no information, I'm sorry to say. I think of Krystal often and wonder how she is getting on. I pray she is doing well and beating the cancer.)
3. This post, The Work of Happiness, says a lot about me...the pursuit and recognition of all things happy in my life.
4. While looking though my older posts it was fun to come across this one, Thanksgiving... Leftovers , which shows photos of our newly redecorated living room, which over some months in 2006 took shape. I do love how the room turned out. The room is a strange L-shape, it was hard to place furniture and decorate!
5. My random choice comes from Happy New Year! This one is from January 2007, a post after Christmas spent in the USA with family & friends, the photos are from a day trip we took to eastern Pennsylvania, to Longwood Gardens to see their magical Christmas displays and to the Brandywine River Museum. I love the photos from this post!
Now I have the pleasure of tagging five others to share their archives with us! My own twist on this is that I choose five new friends, all of whom I've just met within the last month or so...Anna of All Things Lovely, Paz of Paz's New York Minute, Margaret of The Earthly Paradise, Willow of Willow's Cottage, and M.Kate of La Vie Est Belle. And not only are you ladies tagged for this meme, I also give each of you the You Make My Day Award too! I can't wait to see your archive posts!
I also just want to take a moment to thank all of you taking the time to respond to my musings on Word Play on my previous post. I'm not so very disappointed that there's been little response, nor am I feeling sorry for myself, so please don't think so. I just was wondering aloud whether or not to continue with the words. And I certainly don't want to bore anyone--LOL! But I will be keeping up the Word Play. They may not appear every second week, as was my original aim, I've come to see I may not always be able to do that. So I will choose a word, write and create a collage and surprise you with a new word from time to time. I have such fun with the words, and that's what matters most.
Here's an extra look at those cedar waxwings...Happy Evening everyone! :o)

Tracy, I, too, have one of those funky L-shaped living rooms that merge into the dining room. And to make it slightly more challenging, the living room portion is somewhat narrow and flanked by a fireplace on one side and a bank of windows on the other! That was fun to be invited into your home via a glimpse. Hope your days aren't too hectic with the trip preparation! Hugs to you.

Those birds must have been a wonderful sight to see, Tracy! I've never seen one before although according to the link, they're common to our region during the summer. Maybe I just need to pay closer attention to the birds in our yard! :)
I'm so glad you're going to continue with Word Play at your own pace. These posts give me so much food for thought.
Congratulations on your award! You always make my day! Have a great week, my dear friend!
~ hugs,
Lynda xoxo

You make my day every time I see you have posted a new edition of Pink Purl! You most certainly deserve that award.
Thank you for tagging me for the archive meme. Now I have to think about my old posts!

Where do I begin?
I love Cedar Waxwings! My husband I hope every year we will see one but no luck so far. We plant more and more bushes and trees that fruit hoping to bring them in.
This was a great post. I loved looking back at your older posts.....I can't believe I haven't done it before!
I especially loved the post on Longwood Gardens. That was where my Husband and I had our first date :-) What a special place....any time of year :-)
Charlie is so sweet. He looks like such a sweet fella!
Finallly, you do indeed "Make my Day" .... you do, you do :-)

I think you should post lots of pictures of Charlie!
He looks much loved and a wonderful character.
Your home looks exactly like a 'home' rather than just a house - very comfortable and welcoming.

A really lovely post Tracy - and I loved being reminded of how the simple lines of your work (which is carried over into your home) appeals to me.
The birds are fabulous aren't they?
Take care. x

For some reason I have always loved cedar waxwings. They are pretty, usually unobtrusive, little birds. Your older home and garden by the coast sound lovely. We received much needed rain, though still need more to lift the drought conditions. But the lights went out last evening after dinner out, so my guests and I had a delightful candle lit Victorian-esque evening. So nice to hear from you today.
Have a wonderful day.

What pretty birds Tracy ~ I've never seen a cedar waxwing, so I will have to look out for them in the future.
I enjoyed your Archive meme. Such a shame that no-one knows what happened to Krystal. As you know, I also participated in the fundraiser, but never had a response from Evelyn when I tried to contact her. I do hope that Krystal is well.
Hugs,
Marie x

How nice to see some of your old posts. And how curious to have all those birds around. Here sometimes by lunch time we have seagulls visits (and we are quite a bit far from the sea) lol. Lepooh aches to go out there and just catch one, but I fear the road just outside. lol
Lots of love and hugs,
x

Wow...so many photo's and each one so different. The cedar waxwings in the tree top caught my eye. We have a pine tree that the birds love to gather in each morning and late afternoon.
Charlie looks like a sweet kitty and so relaxed with his little toy.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I will be back soon.

Dear Tracie, how good to see you again. I'm behind visiting all my blog friends since I started writing again. I'm paying my visits in a very slow way, whenever I have some free time here and there, but I'm glad I stopped by to say hello. I miss you! But I'm glad to see you are doing great.
Those birds must have been a wonderful sight to see! I found nature amazing...
Congratulations on your award! You always make my day every time I come here! Have a great weekend, my dear friend!
