The rain stopped for a while on Saturday--finally! So we took the chance and drove to Oslo, capital city of Norway. We lived for many years in Oslo, so it was fun to go back to old haunts, favorite shops, mingle with the summer tourists, and eat out. As always, the camera was handy, so here's a little sampler of our grand day out in the city.
The Royal Castle, at the end of Karl Johans gate. You can almost walk right up to the front door and ring the bell (sort of...)!
Here's King Karl Johan overlooking the city. His lovely motto is engraved on the monument: "Folkets kjærlighet - min belønning", meaning “The people’s love is my reward”.
Public park at the Royal Castle.
Monument to Norway's Queen Maud, granddaughter of Queen Victoria.
The National Theater, exterior and garden.
Interior of GlasMagasinet, one of Oslo's oldest and finest department stores.
Sitting by the fountain at the National Theater.
Tomorrow I'll take you to a few more places! Happy Day! :o)

What a beautiful city. I love the statue of Maud - it is exquisite.
And, I especially love your picture. You look so pretty and happy. And, that fountain in the background is magnificent.
I'm glad you both had a clear day for another great outing.

Looks like a lovely day out Tracy! The Royal Palace looks a bit like Buckingham Palace. I like the statue of Queen Maud-very simple. You look nice sitting by the fountain too!

What beautiful sites! I'm happy to hear that you and your hubby got to take a little trip. I remember how tough it was during the snowy winter in Boston. But oh how fun it is to finally get to leave the house! Glad to see you smiling :).

Oslo looks so beautiful! The castle is enormous! When I read Karl Johans words they reminded me of what I wrote under my "award free" blog photo..lol!
That department store looks so interesting, and the lovely parks too...you do look like a pretty peacock in the last photo!
Off to read post # 2!

I said it before, I must travel to Oslo. I do love that photo of you in front of the fountain. It turns you into the loveliest, most modest kind of a beautiful peacock I've ever seen.

I‘ve put a trip to Oslo on my wish-list! I’ve always loved to visit the Northern European countries!
