Saturday we made the most of a sunny day and went to nearby Tønsberg to see two exhibits currently on show at Haugar Vestfold Kunstmuseum. (Earlier this year, I wrote about this gallery--see here.) We often go to Haugar two or three times a year, and usually are very impressed with the variety and quality of the changing collections they feature.
This time we saw a retrospective of the Norwegian sculptor Knut Steen, who creates wonders in marble. And a collection of newer works by the Norwegian-American painter Ida Lorentzen, whose atmospheric interiors are highly emotive. No photography was allowed, but this photo I took of an advertisement for the exhibits gives a hint of what we saw. Do check out the artists' links. We very much appreciate the works of both of these artists, so it was a thrill to see many works up close.
Afterwards we had lunch at Haugar's cafe, sitting outside on the terrace under a big umbrella. We had these beautifully presented sandwiches and drinks. (That frothy chai latte was mine! ;o) We talked and dreamed about art... all the while taking in a lovely view from the terrace. The museum is nestled in a beautiful as well as historic location.
Yesterday, Sunday, it rained, which was expected. So our picnic was indoors--an outdoor picnic will have to wait. But we didn't mind much, as there was the great men's final tennis match of Wimbledon to see. There were some very exciting matches this championship!
Wishing you all a happy week! :o)
P.S. I've been restocking my Etsy shop with new jewelry and accessories. Among the new accessories are beautiful fiber shawls & scarves, like my Summer Breeze Shawl shown here. More shawls and other pretties will be added throughout the summer at my Etsy shop. More new jewelry and other accessories will be appearing in my ArtFire shop too.

Good Morning Tracy! (Well, it's morning out here!) Your day at the museum sounds lovely! I can see how much you enjoyed it. Have a good week!

Lovely way to spend your weekend, Tracy. It's always gratifying to have something good to watch if you can't be outside enjoying the sunshine. I spent some of the hotter hours inside watching the latest version of Little Dorrit.

Hi dear Tracy,
Thank you so much for your comments as always. Yes, things are moving nice and well for us and hopefully we will be moving soon. We are still in a uncertain position (any parts can change their mind at this point still), but as the days passes things move forward and soon we will be more in a more settled situation.
Lots of love and hugs,
x

Hi Tracy! Days like this make you feel as rested as a long vacation we find. Your lunch looked just wonderful as did the views.
We had a bit of rain today and it has brought some welcome relief from all the heat. I am afraid this weather is not helping me to feel better. I hope you are surviving it? And the funny thing is that the weather in Ohio is our normal Dutch weather. I told my mother to please give me our weather and takes hers back...lol.
Your shawl is so beautiful!
Hugs ~
