Last weekend I finished knitting the Baby Kimono, which I'd started in mid-February. This was a really fun project, and has been my weekend project for the past 6-8 weeks now. The pattern is very easy. Instead of the ribbon-tie as indicated in the pattern, I knit 6 inches of I-cord and made loops and sewed them onto the jacket front along with petite toggle buttons. This button option makes for a smart look, I think. I would definitely knit this fun pattern again… but with different yarn. The Wedgwood-blue color is wonderful, but I didn't like this Smart yarn Sandnes Garn--it wanted to split, the plys/stands untwisting. The yarn is new wool, very soft and knitted a firm, cozy fabric--this will make a sweet little jacket for colder days. If you're on Ravelry, you can read my little diary-like entries on the making of this baby jacket, and see extra photos. This Baby Kimono was an extra special project, for it will soon be worn by a new member of the family... One of Dear Husband's sister's & her husband are having their third child--a boy--in but a few weeks time! Very exciting time just now for all of us here. And we thrill to being aunt & uncle again soon!
I've been trying not to purchase too much yarn, making efforts to use my stash well. I'm afraid last week I fell off the wagon though, when I went to my local yarn shop specifically to purchase a knitting needle in a size I didn't have already. They were having a sale... *sigh*... I couldn't help but snap up the last 4 balls of this Sublime Baby Cashermere Merino Silk DK in luscious Blush pink shade! I'm thinking an open, lace-like patterned scarf or shawl for this... mmm...More knitting for fun has been happening behind the scenes... so more knitting adventures another time. What are you working on or making right now?
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!
