Hello! We arrived home to Norway safe & sound on Thursday. Thank you for all the greetings and visits here while we were away. It's good to be back. We had a lovely time in the USA with family & friends, and my mind is now sifting through the memories... Due to scheduling difficulties, the NYC trip/blog meet-up didn't work out for this time. But hopefully, another time!Since getting back we've been having a couple of days of getting over the jet-lag, reunion & cuddle time with Charlie, lots of laundry, and settling in again at home. Spring busted and bloomed here while we were gone, so there is much to do in the garden and lawn mowing as well.
Before we went away, I did sneak in some time to make two little pretty things for myself for our travels, which I didn't have a chance to share until now. One being a makeup brush roll , pictured up top. I created it using some bits from my stash. The pink outer fabric is actually a wonderful pink denim. And the inner, lining fabric is the last of a remnant bit I'd purchased last time we were in London, almost two summers ago--love the lush tropical floral print. A bit of white rickrack for decoration, and white satin ribbon to make the tie. This was a fun project and useful for our trip.
I also made this cosmetics pouch, shown above, using a new shape design I came up with. This was my first time sewing a zipper along a curve--slightly scary at first, but it turned out great! The outer fabric is a lovely silvery-lilac, actually an upholstery fabric remnant, and simply embellished with black trim and a trio of small buttons. The beautiful rickrack is velvet, which I purchased from my friend Amanda's shop, where she & her Mom sell wonderful trims, papers, vintage ornaments and special supplies for crafting.
After two weeks away, my fingers are itching for some craft time now! And now that I'm emerging from the jet-lag fog, I'll be around blogland and visiting. By early next week my Etsy shop will be open again, and there will be some changes there during the summer. Look for some fun coming up here soon, including a gift giveaway and more! And I'll be updating new photos at my other place, A Certain Slant of Light. Happy Weekend!
P.S. Don't forget, Monday is another serving of The Blog Cafe! Our next host is my very dear friend, Marie who writes at A Year from Oak Cottage. Marie is an amazing cook and foodie, so I'm excited to see where she will take us for a treat. And she has a beautiful way with words, so I look forward to what topic she'll share with us. See you there!
**If you'd like to host the Cafe one week, please email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org We'll get you on the list and give you a hosting date! **
