One of the most beautiful words in the English language is HOME. At least I l think so. There's something about it that has a sacred, prayer-like quality. Whisper the word, slowly now...There, you see? Home is a place where love dwells, where the heart can rest, where comforts abound. I love being at home. And I love tending to this place where Dear Husband & I, and kitty, Charlie, live. The actions of tending to the home, the rituals of homemaking are joyous ones for me. Of course, I do have those moments where the mountain of laundry seems never ending, or that scrubbing the toilet is not the most brilliant highlight of my day. We all have such moments, don't we?...Still, collectively all the daily tasks flow one into the other, almost like a yoga practice sequence. All connected, there is a sweet harmony to be found within a day at home, tending the home.
This past week Dear Husband & I have been using just about every day tending to our house, our home. Dear Husband was knee deep taking care of some home improvement projects, while I was spring cleaning everywhere. Of course, our to-do list was much too ambitious to accomplish completely within one week, but we did a lot and are satisfied. There's always something to do, and leftover projects will get their turn.
And with spring cleaning in mind, I found a few corners of time to make up this little project, the fun Happy Homemaking Apron! I've been somewhat reluctant to show off or even try to sell an apron here, as there are so many beautiful aprons being made out there! But I decided to go for it and share my own take on the garment. The revival of apron making, collecting & usage in recent years has been fantastic. I use an apron a lot. Though I try to be neat about all tasks, you just never know when a mess will happen--LOL! So an apron saves a lot of clothes from being spoiled. My Momma had a blue & white print cotton apron, bib-style and with pockets. I recently bought a length of fabric that reminded me of the print of that apron she had. Just having that fabric, looking at it, takes me back to my childhood and the comforts of the home Momma made so well. This apron I've made has the feel of grandmother about it, of days gone by. The fabric is part of a series of 1930's Era Designs by Darlene Zimmerman for Robert Kaufman, entitled "Happy Homemaker". White rickrack detailing on the bib of the apron pockets adds a nice touch to this simple design. Anyone needing a new apron for spring cleaning or other tasks, can purchase this mint-green lovely, please see the For Sale gallery for details and email me for PayPal info.
Today will just be a quiet day for us here. And after a very busy week with much physical work, a break is much welcome. We will be going to Dear Husband parents for dinner. So I won't even have to cook today--LOL! Sometimes it's the little things that mean a lot! This is an important weekend for many. While Dear Husband & I do not celebrate Easter in any formal or religious way, many we know do, and so we wish them, and everyone everywhere, a wonderful holiday weekend!
These yellow tulips are an offering to the beauty and joy of the return of spring--that is something special to celebrate too!
Happy Days! :o)

That apron is just too cute! Are you sure you want to part with it? LOL
Your pictures are always so great! I love the composition and the colors in them. I especially like the stained glass window with the vase and goose in front of it!

Anyone choosing to purchase such a lovely creation is not only buying something attractive and useful but fond memories of hearth an home to pass down through the family...from your very proud and loving sister Kimmie
