Raspberries... Oranges or orange juice is often likened to liquid sunshine. But give me a bowl of raspberries, all on their own, still warm from the sun... That is liquid sunshine to me!
Our three raspberry bushes have been yielding a LOT of fruit at the moment. The idea was to make jam, but it has been so busy of late, that we just eat the berries right away!
Charlie is our little helper. He loves being outdoors with us as we work in the garden or harvest fruit, salads, etc. And then he's our little helper indoors too. He loves to be where it's all happening!
I wanted to take a moment too, to thank you all for the many truly beautiful and heart-warming comments you left for me on my previous post regarding my Etsy shop closing, creativity and much more. If you missed the post, bump down an entry to see... And it's not too late to sign up for my gift giveaway--the winner will be announced in a few days, on Friday the 6th!
And happening today, Monday... is another serving from The Blog Cafe! This week's host is Susan, who writes at Ariel. Susan has a sensitive and lovely way with words, poetry and stories. I look forward to sharing a moment with you there!
There's more too today... My dear friend Se'Lah who writes at Necessary Room has once again announced a new round of her fantastic *Gift of Jewels* project... send a little love around the world by way of postcard, card or gift. Stop by to see Se'Lah for the details and sign up. It's great fun!
Withing you all a happy week ahead! :o)
With Love,
Oh yummy! So how many berries did the adorable little Charlie steal? ;D
Happy new week Tracy!

Hi Tracy --
I used to have the most wonderful raspberry bushes. Very few ever made it into the house because whenever the kids were playing outside, they would nibble on the berries. Then, we had a dog who feasted on them -- right from the bush. The prickers never bothered him either. I finally gave up and dug out my plants. Your photo makes me think I made a mistake. Yum.

YUMMMMMM! you really can't beat freshly picked raspberries! Love that photo of Charlie! xx

Your photo of the raspberries and Charlie is so cute. Chelsea put raspberries on her dessert for church yesterday but the piece I got had just a red spot where someone had eaten the berry. Hmmmm.....I'm guessing it was one of the little children who just can't leave the fruit alone. That's ok, there are more raspberries in the fridge.

When we moved into this house 35 years ago we had wonderful raspberry bushes...somehow the trees have grown and taken over and the berries disappeared!...I keep saying we need to cut down some trees....

I wanted to buy raspberries yesterday but I missed the farmers' market and the store didn't have them. Well, they did, but from CA, not OR - which made me wonder if their season is over (because they buy from similar local vendors). But I was going to try a recipe from a recent smittenkitchen.com post - raspberries + sour cream + brown sugar + a broiler. If you still have lots of berries and want an idea, you might check it out!

Oh, yum! When I was little our friends had a very tiny raspberry bush and we'd go out and harvest a small bounty and make "jam" (raspberries smashed with sugar) and eat it up right away.

Whatever will we all do when all the fruits and veggies are gone? In my case, the farmer's markets that are around since very little produce grows around here. Don't want to go back to eating heavy stuff quite yet, but.....on my walk this morning, I saw the first reddish brown leaf, down low, in the ditch.
In the meantime, I will keep canning....beans...apricots....corn....next tomatoes and vegetable stock and chili.
Oh, and splitting wood every morning and watching the pile grow. Toodoloo, Tracy!

Aw, Charlie! He looks about ready to dive in!

I had wonderful raspberries in spring from my plants but the hot summer made them stop producing. I hope they will begin again as it cools down a little.
Charlie is so sweet! My Bo has been seeking out a cool tile floor to sleep on whenever he can. We are both looking forward to autumn! :)

So much goodness here this morning Tracy! Those raspberries look so very delicious!! I noticed the blackberries are already getting ripe in the hedgerows here as well! I particpated in that activity with Selah last year and it was well worth it. Also going to hop over to the Blog Cafe! I hope that we can find each other a bit later today! Todd has meetings to go to at the church, so maybe I will just telephone you! Would be so much nicer than chatting on line. Much more personal. Would that be ok??? Love you loads and loads. Hope to talk later! xxoo

You actually have THREE raspberry bushes of your very own? I'm quite jealous.
And Charlie looks very elegant posing next to that bowl of luscious rosy berries. Please kiss the top of his adorable furry head for me.
Thanks, too, for taking the time to stop by and comment on my blog today. You are an encourager.
