Bibliophilia... the love of books. Or, such a person with bibliophilia is more commonly called a bookworm. Dear Husband and I are bookworms! Both of us being lifelong lovers of books and reading. Our union nearly 11 years ago brought together a great collection of reading--both of us having amassed many books. When we moved home some years back we did downsize the books a bit. Hard parting with books, but it was necessary. Especially as we had double of some titles... LOL!
At the end of last week I did a big dusting of all our books and shelves. Anyone who has a lot of books knows how long this takes! I thought I'd share a few views from some of our shelves...
Some nicely bound classics...
There are some biographies of writers, artists, and great people and thinkers we admire...
Just a few of the cookbooks collected...
And just a little peek at but a few of the craft-related books in my studio... Among all the books, you may notice a mix of titles in English as well as Norwegian.
The BIG spring clean continues this week too... But I did want to stop by and share what's been happening here. I've been slowly making the rounds to visit everyone when I can, often during tea breaks between all the cleaning.
It's a very interesting thing when we set the body in motion and do something different. The mind tends to follow. I clean house weekly, yes, but this big spring clean has really cleared some cobwebs--around the house, as well those in my mind! These last several days I've been experiencing a flood of new ideas & creativity. I keep a sketchbook handy to jot things down, make notes, draw, etc. It's been tremendously refreshing and uplifting! Body in motion... Mind in motion! Do you find this to be true as well?
With Love,
We have a lot of the same cookery books!! I think when you are doing tasks that don't require a lot of thought (like dusting books!) then it does give your mind the chance to wander into new new territory and come up with fresh ideas. I used to swim a lot, and often found that the solution to a problem would occur while I was ploddign up and down the pool! Have a good week, love Anne x

I love books passionately but have lived in so many places that my collection is a great deal smaller than yours!
I loved peeping at your shelves. I always do that at other people's houses.
I tend to press my favorite books upon my friends and so they tend to vanish too.
Happy week, Tracy

Another Jamie Oliver fan!! I’m not a reader, I probably told that before. I love books with pictures, so I love craft and cook books... LOL! I don’t have Nigella Lawson’s books, but I love to watch her on TV! I’m curious about the book Poetry in Stitches, interesting title!
Body in motion, yes that’s definitely mind in motion. I’m declutterinh my work and sewing space (again). It sets my mind to creativity, but also makes me restless, as I want to start working on too many projects!

I've experienced a lot of good things through my new cleaning schedule, too. I understand what it takes to dust all those books because I have so many cases full of them. That is on my list to do soon. I have many of the same cookbooks you have...Jamie, Barefoot Contessa, and Nigella :0)

Books are an important part of my life, but I am in the process of editing, it is harder than I imagined.

Ooh, I went to the library over the weekend and there were so many more books I wanted than I checked out... I'll have several more trips to make!

Hello Tracy,
Sounds like spring cleaning is certainly going well. I too am a lover of books! I see we even share a few of the same titles in our crafts rooms!:o) A cup of tea and a good book, now that's a good thing!
Continue to enjoy spring cleaning and creating!:o)

I have Weekend Sewing too!
How funny that you are cleaning! I started last week deep cleaning in the bedroom and have hit the bookshelves! Those books do take a very long time to dust, don't they?

You are so right, every time I start sprucing up my home by de-cluttering or just even cleaning I find myself bursting with new ideas. I have to keep a small notebook handy. Thank you, sweet Tracy for sharing your beautiful book with us. Have a great week :-)

Oo books books books! I'm a member of "Goodreads" which lets me know when an author I like has brought out a new book. It also lets me keep a log of what I have read. My bookshelves need a good tidy up at the moment. You've reminded me that I haven't been to Haworth in a while.

Tracy, I had to do a book downsize myself last week before the move - I donated them to the library! One can never have enough books - yes:) your collection looks great - especially the author bibliographies.

I could not live without my books...Well, I suppose I could, but it would be so dull...I love seeing your shelves!

I so enjoyed looking through your books!!! Steve has converted to a Nook but I could never give up reading bound books ~
I agree that physical exercise is stimulating to the mind and when I jog I often come up with arguments for briefs or have "insights" into a complex matter I'm mulling over. I keep a pen and paper in my car to jot down my thoughts lest I forget by the time I return home!

Tracy, how fun it is to see your books. We have many of the same tastes I can tell! Lots of the same books! I love the Reader's Digest Needlecraft one. I have had mine for years and years and have learned so much from it! I am going to try to call you tomorrow afernoon. A lot depends on my knee and how I make out! Lots of love and hugs coming your way! xxoo

That post makes me want to tidy and clean my bookshelves, it's the time of year when the sun is at an angle that really shows the winter dust. But then I'm reading this really good book ...

Hi Tracy, I would love to have a thorough spring clean. Even though we have only lived in our house for three months, it is amazing how dusty everything becomes, especially as we have hot air heating...just a method of blowing the dust bunnies around as far as I'm concerned! I don't think that time will permit such a task so I will have to make do with flicking the duster around periodically....
I love the photos of your books. I was planning to post some of mine when I reorganized after we moved, but never did so...maybe I will try to put some on my blog later this week.
Enjoy your spring fling!
Marie x

Wonderful book collection. I remember reading everything I could find written by Hardy!
How cute that you and your husband had some of the same books.
You're right about the body in motion, mind in motion. Glad to hear you're getting those creative vibes again.
