A little love and light for you today.  I am here a day earlier than usual, as I plan on tuning in tomorrow to the British Royal Wedding--as Prince William marries his love Catherine Middleton--and watching as much as possible!  What can I say?  I'm a swooner for a sweet romance and fairy tale... ;o)  Anyone else tuning in?

As we turn the calendar month to May there is some celebrating to do!  Stop by during the weekend, if you can, for a bit of festivity...

Don't forget to water your LOVE... As John Lennon said so simply, so beautifully, "LOVE is the flower you've got to let grow".

Knit Happens!

Yes, knitting still happens here occasionally!  And just before & during the Easter break, I worked on and finished a pair of easy knitting projects.  A couple of very useful things, pretty too, and made some use of yarn in my stash.  One was the pair of mug cozies above--knit in a wonderful earthy wool, Alaska by Drops Design.  The pattern is the Diagonal Mock Cable Mug Cozy, which can be found very kindly for free at the blog Homespun Living.  These cozies--one for me, one for Dear Husband--fit our Ikea mugs perfectly.

The pattern for these pink slippers is from a book in Norwegian I cannot trace just now. I’ve had the pattern on a piece of photocopy paper for so many years, and it was one of the first patterns I deciphered when learning Norwegian many years ago after moving to Norway. These are called "Hytte Tøfler,” which can be translated as “Cabin Slippers” in English.  A very simple construction of a knitted rectangle-shape with easy shaping & fold down “cuff” at the ankle.  I used Lion Brand’s Vanna’s Choice Baby, an acrylic yarn, which I purchased on a visit home to the USA some time ago for a project that didn't materialize as it turned out to be the wrong yarn... so it languished in my stash as I seldom use acrylic yarn.  But I'm liking these slippers!  They fit/feel best with socks on, and are very cozy.  Good for the next cold season.  And the bright pink makes for happy feet!  And yes, I do have very tiny feet... ;o)  I've updated my Ravelry page with both these projects, and you can find my Rav link in the sidebar.

Earth Day

Just for fun... a doodle/illustration from my art journal to celebrate Earth Day!  This sketch runs along a similar theme from my Earth Mandala.  I used my favorite Pitt pens and Derwent color pencils.  Lots happening in my art journal these days, and I will soon share more of other creative things taking shape here.

Taking time to consider the Earth and her delights, but also how to preserve & use them wisely...

And with the Easter break now, I will be taking some time away to enjoy with Dear Husband and family here.  I'll be off-line for a few days, but look forward to catching up with everyone later next week!

P.S. Our town is noted for all the mistletoe found here.  We have a higher concentration of the plants than anywhere else in northern Europe.  There are some places particularly dense with mistletoe.  We found such a spot while walking in the woods last weekend. At first they appear to be abandoned birds nests. But get closer, and the bright green reveals more...  I thought I'd share this beautiful scene from Mother Nature for today, Earth Day!
